Shop Forward

Shop Forward, Shop Often

Pop ups are a way to highlight businesses, without the burden of overhead of rent and extensive buildout, for a concept that may still be in its pilot stage. Shop Forward is Pop Up 3.0 and provides wrap around support for it’s participants.

The Idea

It's simple, really. Businesses support neighborhoods, neighborhoods support businesses. Who benefits from Shop Forward:

small businesses,

landlords and

communities.

Project Forward’s experience in underserved communities, both in providing technical assistance to business owners and supporting the physical asset development of commercial corridors brings a level of understanding that is not being exhibited in today’s market place.

Also, when a business is first starting, they often lack capital: human, social, financial and otherwise. Project Forward offers to fill that gap with the Pop Forward/Shop Forward membership service. This allows the business owner to do whatever it is that they do best, meanwhile building the framework that will allow them to work on their business, not just in their business.

How We Roll

Shop Forward partners with businesses, artisans and communities, to create creative pop up market experiences. Our inaugural Shop Forward market was launched Saturday, September 16, 2016 in Douglas Park during Riot Fest. It was with a collaboration with the Greater Westside Community Development Corportation.

This event garnered over 150,000 attendees and we offered community and small businesses an opportunity to take advantage of the influx of potential customers at a greatly reduced rate.

We are pleased to continue the partnership with the GWCDC and look forward to hosting a holiday market in Winter 2018.
